What Is Apple Juice Concentrated? How Is It Produced?

In the fruit processing industry, concentrated apple juice is a widely used product format. Unlike freshly squeezed juice, concentrated apple juice undergoes water removal and concentration, making it easier to store, transport, and use in various applications. Understanding what it is and how it’s made helps manufacturers choose the right production equipment and plan product strategies.

1. What Is Apple Juice Concentrated?

Concentrated apple juice, also known as apple juice concentrate, is produced by removing most of the water content from fresh apple juice through evaporation or vacuum concentration. The final product typically reaches 65°–70° Brix, resulting in a thick, syrup-like liquid. It can later be diluted with water to create reconstituted juice with flavor close to the original fruit.

2. Why Produce Apple Juice Concentrated?

  • Easier Storage and Transportation
Reduced volume lowers logistics and storage costs.
  • Preserved Flavor and Nutrients
Produced under low-temperature vacuum conditions to retain natural apple aroma and nutrients.
  • Widely Applicable
Used in beverages, syrups, jams, bakery fillings, and other food industries.

3. Production Process of Apple Juice Concentrated

Step 1: Cleaning and Sorting

High-quality, ripe apples are cleaned using bubble or spray washing machines to remove dirt and pesticide residues, followed by manual or mechanical sorting.

Step 2: Crushing and Pulping

Apples are crushed into a fine mash using fruit crushers or milling machines to prepare for juice extraction.

Step 3: Juice Extraction

Using apple juice pressing equipment such as belt presses or screw presses, the juice is separated from the pulp and pomace.

Step 4: Filtration and Clarification

The raw juice is filtered or treated with enzymes to remove suspended solids, resulting in a clearer appearance.

Step 5: Vacuum Concentration

The clarified juice enters an evaporator system, where water is gently removed under vacuum at low temperatures.
This helps preserve flavor, color, and nutritional value.

Step 6: Sterilization and Packaging

The concentrated juice is pasteurized and filled aseptically into drums, bags, or industrial containers for long-term storage or export.

Apple juice concentratedis more than just a product—it is an efficient solution for large-scale fruit processing. With the right production line and concentration technology, manufacturers can achieve stable quality, global distribution, and year-round supply. Whether for beverage production or food formulation, apple juice concentrate serves as a reliable and versatile ingredient.
